These terms cover your use of the TaskKidz app and website. They're written to be read, not to be skimmed past — so we've kept them short and said what we actually mean. By creating a TaskKidz account you're agreeing to them.
1 Who we are
TaskKidz is made by Biddio Pty Ltd, an Australian company based in Perth, Western Australia. Throughout these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Biddio Pty Ltd. You can reach us any time at support@taskkidz.com.
2 What TaskKidz does
TaskKidz helps a family agree on chores, track whether they're done, and keep a record of the pocket money a parent has decided those chores are worth. It also lets a parent lock a child's Android phone when chores are overdue or at set bedtimes.
That's the whole product. TaskKidz is a tool for a household to use together — it isn't a bank, a payment service, an employer of your children, or a substitute for your own judgement as a parent.
3 Accounts and who's responsible
A TaskKidz family is created and controlled by a parent. If you're that parent, you're responsible for:
- Keeping your account details and PIN secure.
- The child accounts you create, and for having the authority to create them.
- How the app is used within your family, including any device locking you switch on.
You need to be at least 18 to create a parent account. Children use TaskKidz only through an account a parent has set up and approved for them.
4 Subscriptions and billing
TaskKidz has a free tier and an optional paid tier, TaskKidz Premium.
Premium is sold and billed through Google Play, not by us directly. When you subscribe, Google charges the payment method on your Google account, and the subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it.
New subscribers get a free trial. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription at the price shown when you signed up. Trials are for new subscribers only — if you've subscribed to TaskKidz before, you may not be eligible.
You can cancel at any time in Google Play, under Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Premium features until the end of the period you've already paid for.
Prices vary by country and may change. If we change the price of an existing subscription, Google will notify you before it takes effect and you'll have the chance to cancel.
5 Refunds
Because Google Play processes the payment, refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policy, not ours. We never see or hold your payment details, so we can't issue a refund directly.
If something has gone wrong, email us anyway at support@taskkidz.com — we'd rather hear about it and help you sort it out.
None of this limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer law of the country you live in. Where those laws give you a guarantee or remedy that can't be excluded, it still applies.
6 Pocket money is a record, not a payment service
This is the part people most often assume works differently, so we want to be completely clear.
When you set an allowance in TaskKidz and your child completes a chore, the app records that your child has earned that amount. That's a note in a ledger between you and your child. It is not money held by us, and no money moves through TaskKidz.
- We do not hold, store, transfer or process any pocket money.
- We are not a party to the arrangement between you and your child.
- Actually paying your child — in cash, into their bank account, or however you choose — happens between you and them, outside the app.
- "Mark as paid" simply updates the record to say you've settled up. It doesn't move any funds.
- We're not responsible for any disagreement in your family about what's owed or whether it's been paid.
The only money TaskKidz is ever involved in is a Premium subscription, and that's charged by Google Play as described in section 4.
7 Device locking
TaskKidz can lock a child's Android phone. This is a real capability and we treat it seriously.
- Locking only works on a device where a parent has installed TaskKidz and granted the Device Administrator permission. It cannot be switched on remotely without that.
- A parent chooses whether to use it, and can turn it off or remove the permission at any time.
- Emergency calls are never blocked. Android's own lock screen always allows emergency dialling, and the TaskKidz lock screen shows an emergency call button as well as buttons to reach a parent.
- You're responsible for deciding whether locking is appropriate for your child and your circumstances, and for making sure they can always reach help.
Locking depends on the child's phone having power, a network connection, and the app installed. We can't guarantee a lock or unlock will happen at an exact moment, so please don't rely on it for anything safety-critical.
8 Using TaskKidz properly
Please don't:
- Use TaskKidz to monitor, restrict or lock a device belonging to someone whose parent or legal guardian you aren't.
- Try to break into another family's data, or into our systems.
- Upload anything unlawful, or any photo that isn't a genuine record of a chore.
- Resell, copy or reverse-engineer the app.
- Use TaskKidz to harass, intimidate or punish a child in a way that causes them harm.
We may suspend or close an account that's being used this way.
9 Your data and your child's privacy
How we handle personal information — including your child's — is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. TaskKidz is built for families and designed to collect as little about children as it can.
You can delete your family's account and data at any time from within the app, or by emailing us.
10 Availability
We work hard to keep TaskKidz running, but we can't promise it will always be available or entirely free of faults. Features may change, and occasionally something may be removed or replaced.
TaskKidz depends on services we don't control — your phone's operating system, your network, Google's push and billing infrastructure. When one of those has a problem, TaskKidz may too.
11 Our liability
TaskKidz is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for a device locking or failing to lock at a particular moment.
Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for TaskKidz in the twelve months before the issue arose — which, if you use the free tier, is nothing.
Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that can't legally be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law.
12 Changes to these terms
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where it matters, let you know in the app. Continuing to use TaskKidz after an update means you accept the revised terms.
13 Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you live somewhere else, this doesn't take away the protections of your local consumer law.
